Me and my wife are looking for places to go on holiday this year. Usually we end up going somewhere in the UK or Europe for a beach holiday, and we nearly always have a good time and come back relaxed. The problem with these types of holiday is that you don’t really get to know the country – most beach resorts are the same wherever you go.
This year we’re going to be a bit more adventurous and go to Thailand – somewhere we’ve both always wanted to go. The great thing about Thailand is that it has amazing beach resorts but also so much more to offer.
We’re still in the planning stage but we’re probably going to go in September this year. We know we’ll initially fly to Bangkok and stay there for a few days to recover from the journey and see the country’s biggest city. From there we’ll travel down the West side of the country, visiting a few of the famous islands and national parks. We’ll probably end up in the “Deep South” as it’s known before flying back to Bangkok and then London.
There are a few things that make travelling to Thailand more difficult – mainly the distance and the language barrier. Learning to speak Thai isn’t quite as easy as using a French phrase book! It’s a country made for tourism though so we should be able to get by while there. If you have any tips for travelling Thailand then let us know!
